I’ve been meaning to post about this fantastic project since I laid eyes on it - when I spotted Cabin 2 on the 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards shortlist for Residential Design. If you’ve been following Copperline for a while you’ll already be aware of how much I admire Australian architecture and interiors, and the AIDA list is like a goldmine of great design.
Situated at Blairgowrie in Victoria, Cabin 2 is the work of Maddison Architects, who added a 105 sq/m extension to an existing 1960s log cabin set on a sloping site. This self-contained retreat includes living spaces and storage, with a bedroom and en-suite upstairs.
Recently, photographer Amos Chapple spent some time in Saint Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city. He used a small drone to lift his camera high above the cathedrals and fortresses, capturing some amazing aerial photos. Chapple: “There’s a legend in Russia that Saint Petersburg was constructed in the blue heavens and lowered in one piece into the marshland, ‘for how otherwise could a city so beautiful exist in a region so bleak.’” Chapple, has previously showed us Stalin’s Rope Roads, and took us on a trip to Turkmenistan.
Do you allow students to answer a question with the response “I don’t know” in the classroom? Perhaps you should consider no longer allowing that phrase and instead offering up these five other ways that might get students thinking a bit more.
Okay… That’s it… I think I’m going to set this as my alarm on my phone so I can feel like I’m waking up in heaven on a daily basis.
There’s just something about children’s choirs.
There’s just something about this song
Okay, let me tell you a thing about this song. My mother is a nurse in the NICU with small premature babies. and she had one baby that was born addicted to 5 different drugs. Needless to say, the poor baby had to suffer through intense withdrawals, and my mom discovered that this song was incredibly soothing for the baby while he went through all of his pain. She would play this during his rougher patches, and it would calm him down. So yes, there is something about this song.
